Starting today, the ioMMO Coin Shop is in operation.  What's this mean for everyone at ioMMO?  It means you technically get paid for coming back to the website!  At first glance, the prices don't look too attractive in the store, this is because we're still testing some features.  Check back in a few days and you'll see more suitable prices and more items.

Here's the deal, in order to use the store you have to have coins.  What're coins?  They're the currency of ioMMO.  How do you get coins?  You get coins for activity.  Coins cannot be bought or traded, everything is based purely off of activity and contributions to the website.  How long until you can buy a $10 game card?  Well that's the hard part.  We don't want to make it too easy for the sake of our own wallets.  We can't give exact numbers, however we will be checking on the accumulation of coins by members and have set prices according to how fast coins can be accumulated.

Here's how you can earn coins.

• 5 coins a day just for logging in.
• 10 coins for posting a writer's club post!
• 10 coins for posting a blog post!
• 5 coins for posting a gallery.
• 5 coins for posting a video.  (Rules apply)***
• 3 coins for posting a new forum topic.
• 1 coin for responding to a forum post or posting a comment.

***For videos, the video must be your own work.  You can read more about this in our coins rule pages when we get that up.

There will be many more ways you can earn coins, of which include inviting your friends, participating in events, and more.  We're going to work long and hard to get all the coins features finished by next week, with extras being added over the course of 2-3 months.

So why do this?  Who else does this?  Well to be honest, we know of one but our system is unique that it can't be compared to the other guys.  We want to do this to encourage members to stay active on the website.  Our goal is to have the best game portal on the net, and if that means giving something back to the members, then that's what we're gonna do.  As usual, please report any bugs and errors you may find during this test phase of the coin shop.  For testing purposes, we'll be setting up an item in the store for 1 coin.  To make it interesting, one random person to buy this item will be given 500 coins!  Consider it a raffle and a first coin event.
